Creation and Narration
About me
I live in Curitiba, I've been a regular in the underground scene since the late 90s; I play drums in the punk rock band Bravonas, and bass and vocals in the indie/post-punk band Not An Ideal Boy; I have an event production company called DWD Productions; and I'm writing a book in partnership with scholar Carol Cardoso, where we will gather records of women's bands from Curitiba from the 90s to 2025.
About Us
GIRLS TO THE FRONT is a radio program conceived by Gabe Salmazo, a multi-instrumentalist and frenetic consumer of underground music and culture, which aims to promote and honor female musicians of different musical styles, in bi-weekly episodes featuring bands from various countries, including mandatory segments showcasing national bands.
The program is divided into four segments, and each episode follows a specific theme, resulting in a program lasting approximately 50 minutes featuring music, underground stories, and relevant information about the women featured in the episode.
The idea arose from the lack of programs specializing in music created by women, as well as the need to promote women's bands that often go unnoticed and are sometimes even forgotten. In addition to sharing their stories and drawing attention to the importance of promoting this type of art, it also aims to encourage other women to start their own musical projects.
